Defines different styles for the navigation bar.

The Navbar component consists of the navbar itself and one or more navigations.

Class Description
.uk-navbar Add this class to a <nav> element to define the Navbar component.
.uk-navbar-nav Add this class to a <ul> element to create a navigation. Use <a> elements as menu items within the list.
.uk-active Add this class to a list item to apply an active state.
.uk-parent Add this class to indicate a parent menu item.

Example

Markup

<nav> <ul> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li><a href="">...</a></li> </ul> </nav>

Navbar flip

Add the .uk-navbar-flip class to a <div> element to group and align navigations and items to the right.

Example

Markup

<nav> <div> <ul> <li><a href="">...</a></li> </ul> </div> </nav>

Navbar subtitle

Add the .uk-navbar-nav-subtitle class to an <a> element in the list item to indicate that it has a subtitle. Use a <div> element for the subtitle itself.

Example

Markup

<nav> <ul> <li><a href=""> ... <div>...</div> </a></li> </ul> </nav>

You can also add custom content to the navbar, like text, icons, buttons, forms or even a toggle. By default, there is no JavaScript attached to the toggle. As an example, you can add an off-canvas navigation from the Off-canvas component.

Class Description
.uk-navbar-content Add this class to a <div> element, which serves as a container for your custom content. The content will be centered vertically.
.uk-navbar-brand Add this class to an <a> or <div> element to indicate your brand.
.uk-navbar-center Add this class to center your navbar content or brand. The element needs to be the last child in the navbar.
.uk-navbar-toggle Add this class to an <a> or <div> element to create an icon as a toggle.
.uk-navbar-toggle-alt Add this class to create an alternative icon as a toggle.

Example

Markup

<nav> <a href="">...</a> <ul>...</ul> <div>...</div> <div>...</div> <a href=""></a> </nav>

To hide or display certain navbar items, just add one of the responsive visibility classes from the Utility component. This comes in handy, if you want to use a toggle to trigger a mobile navigation for example.

Example

Resize your browser window to see it in action.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consetetur sadipscing elitr.

Markup

<nav> <ul>...</ul> <a href="#my-id" data-uk-offcanvas></a> </nav> <div> ... </div>

NOTE In this example we added an off-canvas sidebar fron the Off-canvas component.

To display the navbar in a different style, just add modifier classes. These modifiers can be combined with each other

Navbar attached

Add the .uk-navbar-attached class to optimize the navbar's styling to be attached to the top of the viewport. For example, rounded corners will be removed.

Example

Markup

<nav>...</nav>

A navbar can contain a dropdown from the Dropdown component. Just add the .uk-dropdown-navbar modifier to the dropdown, so it fits perfectly into the navbar's styling.

Example

ossetian.life

Ossetian - минеральная вода Южной Оссетии

Easily create nicely looking tables, which come in different styles.

To apply this component, add the .uk-table class to a <table> element.

Example

Table caption Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data

Markup

<table> <caption>...</caption> <thead> <tr> <th>...</th> </tr> </thead> <tfoot> <tr> <td>...</td> </tr> </tfoot> <tbody> <tr> <td>...</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Columns

To modify the column width or content, you can use other components. Here are some useful examples:

Style Description
Column width Add one of the .uk-width-* classes from the Grid component.
Text alignment Add the .uk-text-left, .uk-text-right or .uk-text-center class from the Text component.
Text style Take a look at the Text component. For example add the .uk-text-bold class.
Markup
<td>...</td> <td>...</td>

Vertical modifier

To vertically center table content, just add the .uk-table-middle class to the <tr> or <td> elements.

To display the table in a different style, just add a modifier to the the .uk-table class.

Table hover

Add the .uk-table-hover class to display a hover state on table rows.

Example
Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Markup
<table>...</table>

Table striped

Add zebra-striping to a table by adding the .uk-table-striped class.

Example
Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Markup
<table>...</table>

Table condensed

Add the .uk-table-condensed class to make table cells more compact.

Example
Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Markup
<table>...</table>

Combine modifiers

The modifiers of the Table component are combinable with each other.

Example
Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data
Markup
<table>...</table>

If your table happens to be wider than its container element or would eventually get too big on a specific viewport width, just wrap it inside a <div> element and add the .uk-overflow-container class. This creates a container that provides a horizontal scrollbar whenever the elements inside it are wider than the container itself.

Example

Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading Table Heading
Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer Table Footer
Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data
Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data Table Data
Markup
<div> <table>...</table> </div>

Create a tabbed navigation with different styles.

The Tab component consists of clickable tabs, that are aligned side by side.

Class Description
.uk-tab Add this class to a <ul> element to define the Tab component. Use <a> elements as tab items within the list.
.uk-active Add this class to a list item to apply an active state.
.uk-disabled Add this class to a list item to apply a disabled state.

The data-uk-tab attribute is required for two purposes. Firstly, it enables the responsive behaviour. If the parent container is too small to accomodate all tabs, they will be combined into a dropdown, toggled by a single tab, which represents the active tab item. This also requires the Dropdown component in order to work.

And secondly, its functionality is coupled to the Switcher component, which is necessary to dynamically transition through different contents using tabbed navigation.

Example

Markup

<ul data-uk-tab> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li><a href="">...</a></li> </ul>

Add one of the following classes to alter your tabs' styling. These modifiers can also be combined.

Align tabs

Class Description
.uk-tab-flip Add this class to align tabs right and in reversed order.
.uk-tab-bottom Add this class to the <ul> to place tabs at the bottom. This can also be combined with the other modifiers.

Example

Markup

<ul data-uk-tab>...</ul> <ul data-uk-tab>...</ul>

Justify tabs

Add the .uk-tab-grid class and one of the .uk-width-* classes from the Grid component to the list items to arrange tabs in a grid that takes up full width of its parent element.

Example
Markup
<ul data-uk-tab> <li><a href="">...</a></li> </ul>

Center tabs

Add the .uk-tab-center class to a <div> element around the tabbed navigation to center tabs. If you are using the bottom modifier on the tabs, also add the .uk-tab-center-bottom class to the surrounding <div> element to adjust the border.

Example
Markup
<div> <ul data-uk-tab>...</ul> </div>

Add the .uk-tab-left or .uk-tab-right class to align tabs vertically to the left or right side.

Example

Markup

<ul> <li>...</li> </ul> <ul> <li>...</li> </ul>

Responsive behavior

In narrower viewports, like phones, vertical tabs align themselves horizontally. Adding the data-uk-tab attribute will apply the same responsive behavior as horizontal tabs.

This is an example of how to use tabs with the Dropdown component.

Example
Markup
<ul> <li><a href="">...</a></li> <li data-uk-dropdown="{mode:'click'}"> <a href="">...</a> <div> <ul> <li><a href="">...</a></li> </ul> </div> </li> </ul>

Events

You can bind callbacks to following events for custom functionality:

Name Parameters Description
change.uk.tab event, active item, previous item On tab item change

Create layout boxes with different styles.

UIkit uses panels to outline certain sections of your content, which can be styled differently. Typically, panels are arranged in grid columns from the Grid component.

The Panel component consists of the panel itself, the panel title and a panel badge. To prevent redundant white space, top and bottom margins are removed from the panel's content.

Class Description
.uk-panel Add this class to a <div> element to define the Panel component.
.uk-panel-title Add this class to a heading to create the panel title.
.uk-panel-badge Add this class to a <div> element to create a panel badge. The easiest way to style your badge, is by adding the modifier classes from the Badge component.

Example

Hot

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.

NOTE By default, a panel is blank and has no styling. That is why it is important to add a modifier class, which gives the panel some styling. In our examples we used the .uk-panel-box class.

Markup

<div> <div>...</div> <h4>...</h4> ... </div>

Panels in a grid

This is a short example of how to use panels with the Grid component. Both panels are using the .uk-width-medium-1-2 class.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor.

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor.

Markup
<div> <div> <div>...</div> </div> <div> <div>...</div> </div> </div>

Modifier classes are necessary to add a specific style to panels. UIkit includes a number of panel modifiers and you also have the possibility to create your own.

Panel box

Add the .uk-panel-box class to create a visually styled box. This is the default panel modifier.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box

Markup
<div>...</div>

NOTE To create a hover effect on the panel, just add the .uk-panel-box-hover class. This comes in handy when working with anchors.

Panel box primary

Add the .uk-panel-box-primary class to modify the box panel and emphasize it with a different color.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-primary

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-primary

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-primary

Markup
<div>...</div>

NOTE To create a hover effect on the panel, just add the .uk-panel-box-primary-hover class. This comes in handy when working with anchors.

Panel box secondary

Add the .uk-panel-box-secondary class to modify the box panel and give it a light background.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-secondary

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-secondary

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-box-secondary

Markup
<div>...</div>

NOTE To create a hover effect on the panel, just add the .uk-panel-box-secondary-hover class. This comes in handy when working with anchors.

Panel hover

Add the .uk-panel-hover class to add a hover effect to the panel. This comes in handy when using the panel as an anchor.

Example
Markup
<a href="">...</a>

Panel header

Add the .uk-panel-header class to separate the panel title and content with a horizontal line.

Example
Markup
<div>...</div>

Panel space

Add the .uk-panel-space class to increase the spacing around the panel content.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-space

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-space

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-space

Markup
<div>...</div>

Panel divider

Add the .uk-panel-divider class to separate vertically stacked panels with lines.

Example

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-divider

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-divider

Title

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit. .uk-panel-divider

Markup
<div> <div> <div>...</div> <div>...</div> <div>...</div> </div> </div>

NOTE Use the .uk-grid-divider class from the Grid component to separate grid columns.

To display an image inside a panel box that is attached to the border of the panel without any spacing, just add the .uk-panel-teaser class to a <div> element inside the panel.

Example

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit.

Markup

<div> <div> <img src="" alt=""> </div> </div>

Easily apply an icon from our Icon component to your panel by adding one of the .uk-icon-* classes to an <i> or <span> element inside the panel title.

Example

Panel

Markup
<div> <h4><i></i>...</h4> </div>

Ossetian - минеральная вода Южной Оссетии

Provides the default style for all HTML elements.

This component defines the base look of your page. It offers great typography by setting the default colors, margins, font-sizes and more for each HTML element. This page is a short guide on how to use basic HTML elements and how UIkit styles them.

Note Basically UIkit utilizes the famous Normalize.css, but distributed it among all components. Only the necessary parts are adopted into the Base component to keep the unprefixed CSS as small as possible. Most of the normalization related CSS is moved into the Form, Button and Table components. This makes UIkit and its components very robust against conflicts with other CSS frameworks so that you don't have to worry about browser inconsistencies in your projects.

Use the <h2> to <h6> elements to define your headings.

Example

h3 Heading 2

h4 Heading 3

h5 Heading 4
h5 Heading 5
h6 Heading 6

You can add the .uk-h2, .uk-h3, .uk-h4, .uk-h5, .uk-h5 or .uk-h6 class to alter the size of your headings, for example have a h2 look like a h4.

The global font-size, line-height and regular margins between elements are set through variables, which can be customized. Paragraphs and other block elements stick to these values.

The following list gives you a short overview of the most commonly used text-level semantics and how to utilize them.

Element Description
<a> Turn text into hypertext using the a element.
<em> Emphasize text using the em element.
<strong> Imply any extra importance using the strong element.
<code> Define inline code snippets using the code element.
<del> Mark document changes as deleted text using the del element.
<ins> Mark document changes as inserted text using the ins element.
<mark> Highlight text with no semantic meaning using the mark element.
<q> Define inline quotations using q element inside a q element.
<abbr> Define an abbreviation using the abbr element with a title.
<dfn> Define a definition term using the dfn element with a title.
<small> De-emphasize text for small print using the small element.

Create a horizontal rule by using the <hr> element.

Example

For quoting multiple lines of content from another source within your document, use the <blockquote> element.

Example

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam.

Someone famous

Markup

<blockquote> <p>Quotation</p> <small>Source</small> </blockquote>

For multiple lines of code, use the <pre> element which defines preformatted text. It creates a new text block that preserves spaces, tabs and line breaks. Nest a <code> element inside to define the code block.

IMPORTANT Be sure to escape any angle brackets in the code for proper rendering.

Example

<pre> <code>...</code> </pre>

NOTE Optionally, you can add the .uk-scrollable-text class from the Utility component, which will set a max-height of 300px and provide a y-axis scrollbar.

Create an unordered list using the <ul> element and the <ol> element for ordered lists. The <li> element defines the list item.

Example

  • Item 1
  • Item 2
  • Item 3
  • Item 4
  1. Item 1
  2. Item 2
    1. Item 1
    2. Item 2
      1. Item 1
      2. Item 2
  3. Item 3
  4. Item 4

Markup

<ul> <li>...</li> <li>... <ul> <li>...</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ol> <li>...</li> <li>... <ol> <li>...</li> </ol> </li> </ol>

Create a description list using the <dl> element. Use <dt> to define the term and <dd> for the description.

Example

Description lists A description list defines terms and their corresponding descriptions. This is a term This is a description. This is a term This is a description.

Markup

<dl> <dt>...</dt> <dd>...</dd> </dl>

All images in UIkit are responsive by default. If the layout is narrowed, images adjust their size and keep their proportions.

Example

Resize the browser window to see the responsive behavior of the image.

NOTE To avoid the responsive behavior and preserve the original image dimensions, add the .uk-img-preserve class to one of your single images. If you have more than one image, you can also add the class to the parent container. This is not required for Google Maps.
